Ven. Galagodaatte Gnanasara Thera, Wednesday, withdrew the fundamental rights violation petition he had earlier filed in the Supreme Court, claiming a possible unlawful arrest by the Bureau of Special Criminal Investigations of the police department.
The Thera said that a warrant against him had been re-called by the Magistrate on June 21, 2017. He was also granted bail, in respect of the three cases filed against him by the police, in the Magistrate Court.
Counsel Thirantha Waraliyadda, PC, who appeared for the Thera said that consequent to the aforesaid relief granted to his client, his client wished to withdraw the petition.
The Court allowed the request by the petitioner and proforma dismissed the petition.Deputy Solicitor General Thusitha Mudalige, appeared for the Attorney General.
