President-Elect invites Pakistan PM to Maldives

Maldives’ President-elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has invited the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan to Maldives on a mutually convenient time.

The Pakistani PM called president-elect Solih on Monday to congratulate him on winning the recent presidential elections against re-election seeker Abdulla Yameen.

Solih in his conversation with Pakistan PM Khan hoped for “better bilateral relations between the two countries.” Khan, while noting the Maldives was entering a new political epoch asserted he hoped under Solih’s leadership the island nation would “achieve great success and prosperity.”

Both leaders agreed on further strengthening the bilateral bonds between the South-Asian nations and expressed their desires to “work closely on mutual interests.”

While thanking the Pakistani PM for his phone call the president-elect had invited Khan to visit Maldives on “mutually convenient date.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan had accepted Maldives president-elect’s invitation to visit the island nation.
