As the armies of Nepal and China have increased their areas of cooperation in recent years, there are indications that the Nepal Army will receive a much bigger volume of financial assistance from the north now onwards.

China will provide 150 million yuan to the Nepal Army this year for disaster management, compared to 100 million yuan it gave last year. A defence ministry source told the Indian Express that a formal agreement between the two sides will be signed next week in Beijing in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Defence Ministry, Ishwar Pokhrel, who is attending an international conference in Beijing that began Thursday.

The armies of Nepal and China, during the past few years, have increased cooperation by, among other things, holding joint military exercises and conducting exchange programmes for training.
