Jatiya Oikya Front convener Dr Kamal Hossain on Sunday said he appreciated the prime minister’s decision to hold fresh talks with political parties, describing it as a positive step.
He also said Oikya Front will take a positive decision about joining the dialogue with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after discussions with alliance partners, reports UNB.
“I called upon the government to hold talks with political parties, with the aim of finding an effective way for holding a fresh and credible election. Now, the prime minister herself has decided to hold talks. I hail the decision, and it is surely a positive initiative,” Dr Kamal said.
He added that the Oikya Front leaders will sit for a meeting to decide what to discuss with the prime minister after they receive their invitation to the dialogue.
Dr Kamal further said he expects a positive outcome for the people of the country if dialogues are held with the prime minister.
When contacted, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir declined to comment on the matter as he was unaware of the development.
Earlier in the day, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hold fresh dialogues with the political parties that joined talks at Ganabhaban before the December 30 general election.
He said the Prime Minister will send letters to the Oikya Front, Juktafront, the 14-party Alliance, Jatiya Party, and other political parties, inviting them to engage in talks at Ganabhaban to discuss various issues.
