Two Assam Rifles soldiers were killed and six others injured in India’s Manipur State on Monday (Nov 13) after suspected terrorists attacked security forces.
A patrol of the para-military force was targeted with a powerful IED explosion near its camp in Chandel district, close to the Myanmar border and 64 kms from Manipur’s capital Imphal.
One of the soldiers died of injuries on the spot while another trooper died on the way to the hospital. The other injured soldiers have been taken to a hospital.
The soldiers who died were identified as Indra Singh and Sohan Lan.
The attack comes after a brief lull. Additional forces from neighbouring districts have rushed to launch a massive combing operation. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
